Garett Bischoff- Why TNA Is Making A Big Mistake

One of the main storylines in TNA over the last several months has been Garett Bischoff against his father Eric Bischoff. On paper, it's easy to symphasize with Garett. He's trying to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional wrestler, but his dad is having none of it and is using Gunner, a monster heel, to try and eliminate him from TNA. However, there is one major flaw in regards to this storyline.

Garett has been basically shoved down the fans' throats! I'm sure none of it is his fault, but think about it. Garett Bischoff has immediately become the main focus of a high profile storyline! Garett has yet to show that he can work even a passable match yet, hasn't shown much charisma or mic skills, and his look is well below average. This sends a message to everybody in the back who has spent years trying to get to that level that it doesn't matter if you work hard and pay your dues. It is also giving Garett absolutely no favors whatsoever, because while he is currently the main focus of a main storyline, Hogan and Bischoff are running the risk of ruining his career forever. David Flair underwent the same treatment in WCW in 1999, winning the US title and having many succssful title defenses despite barely knowing the absolute basics in the ring. Where is he today? Erik Watts was the subject of a big push in 1992, while being very inexperienced in the ring. How did that work out in the long term?

I have nothing against Garett Bischoff becoming a pro wrestler whatsoever, but he shouldn't be pushed into the spotlight immediately without giving the fans a chance to relate to him and while leapfrogging over many wrestlers who are much more ready for his spot on the show. Garett should spend at least a couple years down in OVW, as he's clearly not ready for the bigtime yet, and continuing to push him in his current state and at their current rate will only turn more fans against him, because TNA has a bunch of wrestlers who are much more deserving of Garett's airtime right now, and that would be unfortunate because like I said, I doubt Garett himself is responsible for any of this. It just has to be said.
